Nicorette contains a low dose of nicotine that is released as you chew the gum or as the lozenge dissolves. The level of nicotine uptake is lower than that of cigarettes, and the program is designed to allow your body to gradually adjust to having less nicotine until you don’t need any
For the first 6 weeks after starting Nicorette, chew 1 piece of gum every 1 to 2 hours or whenever cravings occur (about 9 pieces a day). In weeks 7 to 9, chew one piece every 2 to 4 hours. Finally, in weeks 10 to 12, chew one piece every 4 to 8 hours. The goal of using Nicorette is to slowly reduce your dependence on nicotine. If you experience strong or frequent cravings you can chew a second piece of nicotine gum within the hour.
Nicorette products are nicotine-based oral options to help control cigarette cravings. The gum is chewed while both of lozenge and mini lozenge dissolve in your mouth. It’s just a matter of preference. Whatever you choose, all three have therapeutic nicotine to help you quit smoking.
Chew Nicorette Gum slowly until you can taste the nicotine or feel a tingling sensation in your mouth.
Stop chewing and park the piece of Nicorette between your cheek and gums.
After about a minute, when the tingling is almost gone, start chewing again. Repeat this process until the tingle is gone (about 30 minutes).
If you experience strong or frequent cravings, you can chew a second piece of nicotine gum within the hour.
